Foliar endophytes in trees varying greatly in age

چکیده
Abstract Temple trees, including the gymnosperm Platycladus orientalis and angiosperm Styphnolobium japonicum , have been planted in China for thousands of years. Tree age thus varies widely from young to ancient trees. Foliar endophytes P. S. were surveyed this exploratory study that was based on isolation into culture sequencing fungi trees varying 10 5000 years ( ) 1700 ). Sequenced belonged 24 16 fungal genera, respectively. Principal components analysis showed 14 necessary explain 90% variance endophyte community structure . In eight needed 90%. It is against backdrop complex etiology structuring, relative frequencies (abundances) 17 9 significantly correlated with tree age. There two major trends. Abundant genera [ Fusarium + Alternaria = 74.57% 81.24% )] tended decline linearly Most rare contrast, increased abundance Diversity (H′) richness (Margalef) communities foliage as aged. Relative abundances pathogenic endophytes, or latent pathogens, Pestalotiopsis funerea Amyloporia subxantha ; Collectotrichum gloeosporioides Botryosphaeria dothidea also aged.Since leaf does not vary deciduous nor evergreen ‘tree age’ currently lacks a mechanistic explanation its apparent importance among common foliar endophytes.

Seasonal variation of bacterial endophytes in urban trees
Bacterial endophytes, non-pathogenic bacteria residing within plants, contribute to the growth and development of plants and their ability to adapt to adverse conditions. In order to fully exploit the capabilities of these bacteria, it is necessary to understand the extent to which endophytic communities vary between species and over time. The endophytes of Acer negundo, Ulmus pumila, and Ulmus...
متن کاملFungal endophytes in neotropical trees: Abundance, diversity, and ecological implications
Although fungi comprise only ca. 72,000described species, many authors rank them among hyperdiversetaxa, comparing fungi with nematodes, mites and insects in terms of global species richness (Cqlwell and Coddington, 1994;Hawksworth et al., 1995).However, the true scale of fungal diversity is a matter of open debate, with estimates ranging from hundreds of thousands of species (Aptroot, 1997)to ...
متن کاملDistance decay relationships in foliar fungal endophytes are driven by rare taxa.
Foliar fungal endophytes represent a diverse and species-rich plant microbiome. Their biogeography provides essential clues to their cryptic relationship with hosts and the environment in which they disperse. We present species composition, diversity, and dispersal patterns of endophytic fungi associated with needles of Pinus taeda trees across regional scales in the absence of strong environme...
متن کاملDiversity and host range of foliar fungal endophytes: are tropical leaves biodiversity hotspots?
Fungal endophytes are found in asymptomatic photosynthetic tissues of all major lineages of land plants. The ubiquity of these cryptic symbionts is clear, but the scale of their diversity, host range, and geographic distributions are unknown. To explore the putative hyperdiversity of tropical leaf endophytes, we compared endophyte communities along a broad latitudinal gradient from the Canadian...
متن کاملDiversity of fungal endophytes in leaves and stems of wild rubber trees (Hevea brasiliensis) in Peru
Endophytic fungi isolates from foliage and sapwood of Hevea brasiliensis were studied to determine the total diversity of endophytes inhabiting leaves and sapwood, and differences between respective endophyte communities found in leaves and sapwood. Endophytes were recovered from 72 % (161) of the 225 samples, with a total of 175 isolates. Sequence data from ITS and LSU nrDNA revealed 58 distin...
